Venuelust Interviews Stephanie Martin of One Fine Day Events
At One Fine Day Events we are constantly searching for fresh and vibrant spaces for our events to take place. It's the best feeling to completely fall in love with a new venue and get excited about all the possibilities for making an event there an experience that everyone will remember forever. One Fine Day's founder, Stephanie Martin, was recently interviewed by Venuelust - a company that shares our passion for unique celebration spaces around the globe. If this type of thing sparks your fancy as well, check out the full Q & A to hear Steph's advice on finding and transforming the perfect Lake Tahoe location for your wedding.
Venuelust is a digital media company that specializes in marketing “Off the beaten path” luxury venues for celebrations, getaways and experiences. It makes me giddy with excitement to visit their website and dream about what it would be like to, say, rent a private island for a family reunion. I really dig the site because similar to the philosophy behind One Fine Day Events, the website provides a customized experience. Depending on your style or event type you can search for venues that speak your language - from secret haciendas to castles to luxury safari camps! Here are a few that completely knocked my socks off.

Lake Tahoe Wedding Inspiration | Pops of Pink
Now I must admit...I'm not a "pink" girl. I don't own anything pink and it's never the color that I would choose for any wall or home decor. But when I came across this gorgeous image I just fell in love! There is something about a pop of bright pink that draws in the eye and makes me happy. I love this unfrosted version of cake as well - it creates a rustic yet refined touch. And I love the giant bouquet on top - perfection!

Happy New Year!
2010 was filled with many achievements and much excitement. I can't believe the year is already over, but as we look back it sure was a good one! In a nut shell the highlights include: being interviewed on the local news segment of the Today Show, featured on Utterly Engaged's Magazine, producing and coordinating Tahoe Unveiled, and of course planning oodles of beautiful weddings for our lovely clients.
We are looking forward to planning, designing, and producing many more exciting events this year. Thank you to everyone we worked with, we are so fortunate to have such wonderful clients and vendors!

Day 5 of the Wedding Festivities ~ The Farewell Brunch
After a spectacular night of dancing, playing ping-pong and corn hole, and sipping on margaritas, it was time to end the celebratory week! Just in case everyone didn't get enough of the stunning lake views, we planned a post-wedding brunch at Gar Woods. The private room has tall windows and a private balcony overlooking the lake. Guests were treated to a feast consisting of smoked salmon, fresh fruit, roast beef, roasted potatoes, and plenty more! For decor, I setup the lovely flower arrangements from the wedding. Congrats to Angela and Jeremy - have a wonderful time on your honeymoon in Maui!
Breakdown of a Week-Long Wedding Celebration
This weekend we are preparing for a very exciting and complex wedding. The daily
events have been geared towards entertaining their guests while providing a hassle free vacation. All ages have been invited and every detail has been thought of and seen to. When I first met with Angela and Jeremy, the bride and groom, they requested a non-traditional celebration - no first dances, no formal traditions, and absolutely no fuss. This morphed into a week-long celebration of pure Tahoe fun blended with bikinis, Vera Wang dresses, sumptuous food, and lakefront vows. Follow us for the next few days as we document the daily events and trials & tribulations of planning a flawless celebration for Angela and Jeremy's wedding!
The Ritz-Carlton Wedding | Italy Meets Tahoe
We just received the images from our Memorial Day Wedding! A day after another late Spring snow fall, the weather thankfully cleared and the sun finally came out ... just in time for Rose and Dan's outdoor ceremony at the new Ritz-Carlton Highlands. It was beautiful! Rose and Dan are quite possibly the most laid back bride and groom I have ever met. They took the planning stumbles (of which were many) with ease and were as sweet as pie!

Squaw Valley Wedding in the Winter
Words can't even describe how elated I am for Jon & Jessica. They had the most magical wedding I have ever coordinated! A huge amount of planning, organizing, and strategizing was involved with an outdoor ceremony in the middle of winter during a series of storms. But, it was beautiful and so worth it! Thanks to the fabulous photographer, Mike Larson, and his team, here are a couple sneak peaks. More to come soon!

The Ritz Carlton Highlands | Northstar, Lake Tahoe
The Ritz-Carlton Highlands has most recently become Lake Tahoe's premiere luxury hotel. Nestled amongst the Sierras and situated on the mid-mountain of Northstar at Tahoe, this stunning property provides comfort with sophistication, service with first class staff, and design with contemporary mountain-home elegance. The fine attention to detail and architectural design throughout the hotel is phenomenal.
Ski-in, ski-out access, a downhill mountain bike park, hiking trails, a swimming pool, full service spa and salon, and an exquisite restaurant provide endless possibilities for guests and visitors.
I could write at length about the ever-impressive features throughout the lobby, living room, hotel, and restaurant, but my main objective here is to tell you about the event space. However, I will tell you this - the designers have done an incredible job of implementing all things Tahoe throughout the hotel. Corporate hotel chains tend to instigate the oh so familiar, plain, and lack of personality connotation, but the Ritz-Carlton Highlands has pushed that aside with a unique, stylish, and unparalleled resort that all guests will thoroughly enjoy.
Manzanita, the resorts on-site restaurant is a culinary delight! Reclaimed wood beams straddle the ceiling, various muted shades and textures of leather adorn the overstuffed booths, and an open kitchen stretches along the restaurant showcasing the chef's at work. The San Francisco renowned chef, Traci Des Jardins, sources an organic and sustainable cuisine with entrees for $30 or less. Private dining space is available for parties up to 25ppl and a semi-private space is available for parties of 40 or less. In the summer, the outdoor patio is also available for dining and cocktail receptions. Fabulous furniture, atmosphere, and food will make for a perfect rehearsal or welcome dinner!
The fine attention to detail doesn't stop there - the banquet space has been carefully designed and structured allowing for ample storage, a large banquet kitchen, prep-space, an array of setup arrangements, and loud music! Everything a customer, event planner, and banquet team longs for to provide a perfect evening of dining, wining, and entertaining!
Indoors, the two ballrooms (The Ritz-Carlton Ballroom and the Pines Ballroom) offer floor to ceiling windows, fruitwood chivari chairs, lounge furniture, cocktail tables, round and rectangle dining tables, staging, and up-scale linens. The Ritz-Carlton Ballroom is 6600 square feet, comfortably seating up to 300 people with a dance floor; the Pines Ballroom is 3000 square feet, comfortably seating 120 guests with a dance floor. Both ballrooms can be partitioned off for more intricate planning options, as well as to create a smaller space for fewer guests. In addition, both ballrooms offer separate outdoor patio space with panoramic views of the Sierras. The banquet space was strategically built on the opposite side of the hotel from the lodging rooms to prevent noise complaints and allow groups to rent the space until 2am!
To compliment Lake Tahoe's outdoors, The Ritz also offers two outdoor ceremony locations: the Meadows, accommodating up to 300 people; and the Woods, accommodating up to 120ppl. Both spaces have hard ground, a path accessing the location, handicap access, and furniture for your ceremony.
It is possible for the sales staff to book two weddings in one day; however, both the indoor and outdoor event spaces are completely separate from one another. Rest assured, you will feel like the one and only bride on your wedding day!
Weddings at The Ritz-Carlton Highlands aspire to be complete, hassle-free, elegant, and seamless. The staff is dedicated to providing you with the utmost professional service.
Inspiration Board | Lakefront Sneak Peak
Here is a sneak peak of a wedding I am currently working on. The following displays our inspiration photos. I am super excited to see how this wedding unfolds. It will be beautiful!
This couple is looking for a non-traditional wedding with sass, fun, and lots of surprise elements for their guests. Although I don't want to reveal too much, here are a few tid bits and links!
Decor ~ We will decorate the outdoors with lanterns and lights to create a romantic ambiance. The inside will have a candle-lit fireplace, chandeliers hanging from the tall ceilings, and low floral arrangements decorating the long tables. To honor the bride's Chinese culture, we will have accents of red, which symbolizes good luck!
Flowers ~ The very talented Bellissima Floral is creating a unique place card holder made out of tall reeds and floating candles and flowers. The bride's bouquet will be elegant with subtle creams and peaches.
Food and Beverage ~ Instead of a formal plated dinner, guests will be served a BBQ cuisine "family style" in large dishes by Blue Onion Catering. To emphasize the unique theme, guests will be served beverages in mason jars and greeted with a self-serve infused water and juice station.
Lake Tahoe Wedding | Blissful Surprise
Johanna and Aaron certainly had a blissful wedding featuring Lake Tahoe's finest venues along with Mother Nature's surprising elements. Not only did they have a stunning ceremony on the lake, but they also had the accompaniments of early winter snow and mid fall sunshine. This happy couple celebrated every ounce of peculiar happenings embracing snowball fights during the rehearsal dinner and floating the Truckee river the day prior.
As the bride's family is Jewish and the groom's Christian, the wedding consisted of a merriment of the two religions. Champagne, blankets, white wooden chairs, a beautifully intricate Chuppah, and a stunning lake view greeted the guests at the ceremony site. Although a little chilly, the bride and bridesmaids managed to pose in their strapless dresses with stunning bouquets (by Bellissima Floral). The couple departed in a bold red old Land Cruiser with pine cones trailing behind. Unique, fun, and constant entertainment defined this wedding!

Queen of the Snows Wedding | Warm & Cozy
Carolyn and Ken were married on a perfect, crisp winter day in North Lake Tahoe. The families rented large cabins in Squaw Valley equipped with hot tubs, numerous bedrooms, pool tables, foosball, and large refrigerators. The in-house entertainment assisted in keeping this destination wedding's cost to a minimum. The ceremony took place at Queen of the Snows Catholic Church in Squaw Valley. As a huge storm delivered 6 feet of snow a few days prior the bride entered through a roofless tunnel of snow and into the back door.
The reception was held at PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn. As guests entered from the cold, they were greeted by a warm candle-lit foyer with a beautiful glowing place-card table. Bellissima Floral created a gorgeous 3 tier display of red cherries, floating candles, red berries, and white roses, which made for a welcoming ambiance that set the intimate and romantic setting for the evening. This ambiance continued in the reception room with aspen trees lit up with white lights and pictures of the couple growing up hanging from the branches; votive candelabras on the tables; and a 13 piece band to entertain the guests all night long.
