I can't think of a more romantic + vintage color palette than grey and blush. The blush tones bring a beautiful punch of color while the grey provides a great neutral balance, not to mention meshes brilliantly with any color. Blush colored blooms paired with grey decor is a match made in heaven!

Luckily over the last few years the bakers and bakeries have been listening! My personal fave is a simple rustic cake (or pie!). Just a simple cake with delicious flavor and minimimal icing is right up my alley, and many people will agree that it's the taste, not the presentation, that really matters in the end.

Calming, soothing, and oh-so-pretty - what's not to love about lavender? Roses may have cornered the romance market but I would take a freshly cut bunch of lavender over a dozen roses any day of the week! Aside from being an ultra soothing scent, it's just as classic as the rose - and could you imagine taking a stroll with your sweetie through a beautiful, sun-drenched field of the gorgeousness?

There are so many types of roses out there it's easy to get confused! I wanted to highlight the garden rose today because it's a much softer and fuller rose than the traditional "import rose" you see in grocery stores. It is also a great substitute for those brides looking to have a beautiful peony bouquet but are not getting married in Spring or early Summer, which is the peony's growing season. The many layers of the garden rose open up to create a gorgeous and soft flower!

Yippee - We have a photo shoot to share with you! We had the pleasure of working with some of our very favorite vendors, including Johnstone Studios, Stems by Diana, Doxa Studios, and the Ritz-Carlton to create a beautiful table inspiration filled with rugged and refined elements. We are often asked for inspirational ideas on what we like to call "rustic elegance" - elegant ideas with touches of rustic appeal. Well, You ask - we deliver! We designed a table of intertwining elements that consisted of rugged textures juxtaposed with elegant and soft touches. We also curated elements not normally found on dinner tables - rugged slate we fashioned into beautiful chargers, different sizes of tin cans spray painted rich metal tones, and unique floral choices such as dried pea pods and cotton. The Manzanita Restaurant a the Ritz Carlton, Lake Tahoe was the perfect locale for our shoot, especially because it has a large leather accent wall that provided the perfect backdrop to our rugged meets refined shoot! Take a peek at the video below to see how it all came together.

Living in Lake Tahoe has many benefits, one great one being that fruit is in season year round - which is why I love a berry inspired color palette. Deep purples pop set against almost any palette, and with a dusting of powdered sugar on top of sweets it blends perfectly with freshly fallen snow!

We have had such a great year and we have so much to be thankful for, so it will be hard to narrow this post down to our favorites - there were so many! From being featured in Style Me Pretty, Tahoe Quarterly, Grace Ormonde & Wedding Chicks to designing some of the most magical and meaningful weddings yet, we have had quite the year! Below you will find some of our favorite features, posts and memories from 2012.
Let's start with dessert first!
I happen to love dessert - and with little wedding cakes, it's practically a match made in sugary heaven. You can have the cuteness of cupcakes and the elegant design of a wedding cake with little miniature wedding cake confections! The cupcake trend is still going strong, and the classic wedding cake will go in and out of style - but with small cakes, it's the best of both worlds because you can have your (mini) cake and eat it too!
One of our favorite styled shoots from this year was a gorgeous bohemian-infused wedding inspiration styled and shot at the gorgeously rustic West Shore Cafe in Lake Tahoe. The West Shore Cafe provided the perfect backdrop for our styled shoot with it's warm interior and rustic decor. Click on the image below for our full feature on the Wedding Chicks blog!
Summer in Lake Tahoe means weddings, and lots of them! For anyone tying the knot in the peak summer months it's always a great idea to provide your guests with "Welcome Bags" - a little bag you give to each guest or couple upon arrival to help them make the most of their weekend here. There are a few essentials to include in this bag and we've listed them all in this post.

Paige and Mike's wedding on Lake Tahoe's west shore at Chambers Landing was so elegant, so beautiful, and so perfectly designed that Tahoe Quarterly wanted to highlight it in their magazine this summer! Paige and Mike couldn't have been a sweeter couple to work with and their wedding weekend celebration went off without a hitch! From the "Martha Stewart Backyard BBQ" design to the absolutely stunning flowers over-flowing from every nook and cranny of the venue, their summer soiree was so amazing! I know summer has more variety flora-wise, but a super crisp and simple white bouquet with touches of neutral color provides the perfect compliment to any dress - and adding in touches of seasonal flair, such as dried berries or soft sage, ties the entire bouquet together while still maintaining individual bridal styles.

Today we had the incredible honor of being featured on one of our favorite wedding blogs! Mountainside Bride is an absolutely fabulous blog dedicated to all things mountain + bride and we could not be more excited to have our photo-shoot featured today! This photo-shoot took place at the Manzanita restaurant in the Ritz Carlton and was a combination of "Rugged Meets Refined" elements. Click here to read the full article!
We combined rugged elements found in nature with more refined pieces to create a blend of contrasts. A few of our favorite design pieces included incorporating barbed wire wrapped around glass jars with unexpected floral elements such as cotton and dried seed pods. We also spray painted tin cans different metal tones and paired them with mercury glass wrapped in lace to create a unique centerpiece. We finished the tables with a bright turquoise napkins and rugged natural slate stone used as chargers. Be sure to watch the video (below) and you can see how we put it all together!
